FRANCESCO BERTA – WAVES (feat. Anne Van Den Hoogen)
Francesco Berta returns with his new track “Waves” taken from his namesake EP, which features three selected remixes by Jasper Van Den Hoogen, Dead Flies The Crow and The Echelon Effect. A trans-European collaboration between the London-based Italian-born producer Francesco Berta and the Dutch Anne Van Den Hoogen on the tranquilizing vocals, mastered at the legendary Air Studios in London by John Webber.
“Waves” depicts the heart-wrenching story of a young couple, one of whom is suffering from dissociative disorder. Isaac Madge, the director of the video, manages to capture a thought-provoking portrayal of a true incident, according to Francesco, whose friend is the victim of this mental illness.
Its flickering bleeps and glitches blend harmonically with the delicate undertones of the piano keys that slowly build up to a moment of pure sonic bliss. But Waves is more that just an ambient song for the misty-eyed. It’s a reason to scrap beneath the surface and reevaluate who we really are and our needs; all under the soothing sound of the waves.
Lucy Elizabeth Anderson and Joe James on their roles as the characters of the story, both equally affected by the effects of the illness in their relationship, deliver an exceptional performance in this passive-aggressive story.
Waves is out May 29th. Read a full interview with the composer Francesco Berta, here.
